An All-Volunteer Organization Providing Education, Services, and Support, and Promoting Organ / Tissue Donation
The Transplant Support Group of Western New York was formed in 1997 by a small group of individuals who had undergone kidney failure and subsequently received kidney transplants. Recognizing the need for education and patient support, the group sought to provide information to those considering transplantation and those who had received organ transplants. Support is provided to patients and their families and caregivers. Today, this group continues to be run by an all-volunteer, unpaid group of transplant patients and their families. We take pride in the fact that all funds raised by our group are spent in Western New York, with one-hundred percent of those funds used for patient support and education.
Today, we continue to serve dialysis patients as well as recipients of all organ transplants, including kidney , pancreas, liver, heart and lungs. As the need for transplants and the frequency of organ transplants continues to grow, so has the number of people reached by the Transplant Support Group of WNY. At present, nearly
1350 copies of our quarterly newsletter are distributed throughout Western New York, Pennsylvania and Canada. This distribution is expected to grow
each year.
